Forensics Speech Team
Forensics is an academic organization that allows students from grades 7 to 12 to participate in competitive speaking competitions at Junior and Senior High levels. Students may choose to compete in several categories that include: presenting an original, student-written speech, dramatic readings of prose and poetry, dramatic delivery of a famous speech; dramatic interpretation of a portion from play or film by a single student or a pair of students. A Summer Camp is available each year to aid students in identifying natural talent that will carry their best delivery of a particular category. Chestnut Ridge proudly carries a tradition of creating winning entries. Nearly 90% of student competitors win ribbons during the competitive season. State finalists meet at Susquehanna University, and national finalists meet in a different major metropolitan area each year.
