Information Regarding Snapchat Post

The Chestnut Ridge School District is committed to keeping our community informed about matters that may impact the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We are writing to provide you with information regarding a situation that came to our attention today, March 12, 2025.

The District was made aware of a Snapchat conversation between an adult from Houston, Texas, and a local individual. In this exchange, the person from Texas wrote a message offering to blow up a school.  Following the directive, “If you see something, say something” our students alerted a school administrator.  School administration took immediate action and the District began working with the state police. The Pennsylvania State Police conducted a thorough investigation and determined that the conversation did not represent a credible threat to our schools.

As the District has previously stated, it fully understands how unsettling these situations can be and want to assure you they are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. The District appreciates and encourages people to report any suspicious behavior or information to the school or law enforcement and also ask students to avoid sharing unverified alarming content online.  The state police barracks in Bedford has requested the District inform the community of the outcome, so they do not receive duplicate calls regarding this known Snapchat post.

The District appreciates your continued support to maintain a safe and secure environment for all. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your student’s building principal.
